Meet Pamela Stoot
Pamela Stoot had vowed never to become a teacher. She was going to be a musician. In college, she had an “aha moment” and found her music career at last—in the classroom.
Read on to find out how she did it. Plus, you'll get advice for how to navigate your own path to teaching—and the tools that will help along the way.
Music teacher at Alexander Elementary in Alief ISD
"As I reflect on my journey to becoming a teacher, I recall having to do my own research to determine what route would be best to earn my teacher’s certification. I hadn’t known anyone else who went through the process."
It would have been beneficial for me to have 1-on-1 coaching to be better prepared for the process of getting my certification."

Once an Entertainer, Always an Entertainer
As a child, Pamela dreamed of being a famous actress, a dancer and a musician. She watched musicals and taught herself the choreography, and played first-chair trumpet in school. When it was time to go to college, Pamela knew she wanted to study what she was most passionate about—music.
“In college, I had an ‘aha moment.’ I remembered the joy I felt as a student in music classes, and I started to realize that I could be responsible for igniting that same light in students."
"I can instill within students the same passion I have for the performing arts, all with a stable career with steady growth opportunities."
Now, she’s produced more than 30 musical programs and leads the All Star Boyz Step Team!
