To earn your principal certificate in Texas, you’ll need to do a few things. These are the basic steps:
You’ll need a minimum of a master’s degree from an accredited college or university. You’ll also need a valid classroom teaching certificate.
In Texas, you must have two or more years of creditable teaching experience as a classroom teacher.
There are plenty of leadership programs designed to prepare you for your role as a school principal. You’ll need to pass the principal exams before you get your certificate. The exam varies from state to state. You must pass a criminal history and background check before becoming a principal in Texas. You will also need to complete the fingerprinting process.
