You know your community better than anyone: the challenges, what makes it great, and what can make a difference. That means no one can help the next generation of students better than you.
Want to make an impact and make college more affordable? Start with a Grow Your Own teacher training program.
Grow Your Own pathways are teacher training programs run by school districts. Through one of these programs, you can become a certified teacher and stay connected with your community.
By starting in high school or right after you graduate, you’ll launch your career faster and better prepared. Students get teachers who reflect their local community, and you'll get experience, mentorship and financial help.
Here’s how it works:
A Grow Your Own program can make your bachelor’s degree more affordable. Your paycheck will help cover school costs—and many college programs also offer tons of scholarships!
TEACH for Houston’s Program Explorer can help you find local colleges and universities. Make sure your college’s class schedule will fit with your Grow Your Own program! Your Grow Your Own program can also help you pick a college that works for you.
