    What format should I be using?

    You have the option of talking to a teacher via phone or video call. Choose whichever option you prefer or makes you more comfortable.

  • Length

    How long will the session be?

    The maximum call length is 30 minutes. Average calls last between 20 and 30 minutes. If you have any follow-up questions, TEACH for Houston can schedule another call for you or get you in contact with the mentor you spoke with the first time.

  • Scheduling

    How do you schedule the phone calls?

    For a phone or video call, all you need to do is select a teacher you want to meet with and a convenient time for them to connect with you.

  • Preparation

    How should I prepare?

    Choose a call location with low background noise or that’s very quiet. If it’s a video call, try to take your call in a location with good lighting and without background distractions.

    When you sign up, you’ll complete a short survey to help prepare your advisor for your conversation, but it’s a good idea to think through a list of questions beforehand. We recommend that you check out our suggestions for questions below:
