The Whitlowe R. Green College of Education has a legacy of producing some of the nation’s most distinguished educators. All of its teacher education programs are fully accredited by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification. The College offers multiple pathways to initial Texas teacher certification, including a traditional undergraduate program and an Alternative Teacher Certification Program designed for individuals whose undergraduate degrees are in fields other than teacher education. 

You can choose from a variety of subject areas and grade levels, including:

  • Early Childhood–grade 6
  • Grades 4–8
  • Grades 7–12
  • All-level (Early Childhood–grade 12)

You can earn your initial Texas teacher certification through the Alternative Teacher Certification Program at Prairie View A&M University.
