Program Info

The teacher education program at Texas Woman’s University (TWU) prepares outstanding professional educators who make a difference in their communities. TWU sees educators as not only teachers, but as leaders and advocates in service to others as well. TWU students gain the professional knowledge they'll need in the classroom, along with the skills needed to help their students reach their full potential. In doing so, they open doors of opportunity for future generations — the true calling of every teacher. TWU’s support of students does not end with their graduation. Their New Teacher Academy provides mentoring and professional development for recent TWU graduates who are in the first three years of their teaching careers.

TWU does these things and more because their faculty is passionate about teaching. TWU gives future teachers the skills and tools they’ll need to help their students succeed, because they believe teaching changes lives.

Applicant Info

Texas Woman’s University believes a call to teach is a call to serve. The Teacher Education Program seeks future teachers who want to serve diverse populations and communities. TWU welcomes future educators who not only are driven to help their students succeed, but also want to support teachers who are new to the field. The Teacher Education Program at Texas Woman’s University produces approximately 525 new teachers each year, and TWU’s students typically achieve an overall pass rate of 96% on the state teacher exam.

TWU is a public university that offers the student support and small class sizes traditionally expected at a private university. TWU believes in a quality education that is affordable and accessible, which is why they offer more than $15 million in scholarships annually, including many just for first-year students. Most students are able to maintain their scholarships for up to four years. The average cost of attending TWU is $17,700, which includes books, in-state tuition and fees and room and board for a student taking 15 credit hours in the fall and spring. Approximately 85% of Texas Woman’s students receive financial aid, which can include scholarships, grants, loans and part-time campus jobs.
